Gone, but Never Forgotten
Rip Misfit Tyke
RIP Misfit Tyke.. 2001-2015 As your family gave up on you, we took you under our Misfit wing.. We put you in a foster home that would love you until your last day if no family wanted to adopt you.. Thank you Amy, Scott and Chris for all the love that you showed this guy in his 7 months with us.. xoxo.. See you again one day big guy..
Update December, 2014 After a mass just showed up on our Tykes neck we took him right to the vet.. The vet said most likely that it is cancer.. doing a biopsy could make it spread, and with his age we feel surgery is not an option. So we have decided that Tyke will stay in his amazing foster home until he is ready for The Bridge. He is not in pain at all. He is on steroids to try and shrink the mass. He must eat canned food only now.. If you would like to donate any canned food for Tyke we have 3 drop off locations listed, he is on Purina Pro Plan Senior or Adult. Thank you for your support.
R.I.P. Misfit Delaney
October 11th, 2014: We have some extremely bad and heart crushing news.. Misfit Delaney.. She was taken to the vet for labored breathing, after an X-ray we were told that she has fluid on her lungs and needed to go to OVRS, there they started with an ultrasound and echo.. The ultrasound revealed 2 masses.. One on her lung that was pressing against her diaphragm, which was causing her the difficulty breathing, and one on her aorta.. Most likely both being cancer.. There was nothing more we could do for her and the vet stated euthanasia would be the best we could give her, so we decided last night to take her. When the foster (Shay and family) first brought Delaney into the rescue she was not particularly dog friendly, didn't like cats, and played a little rough with the kids.. The time and effort put into Delaney completely paid off and she turned into an amazing ambassador.. She had dog friends, cat friends and loved those kids beyond.. Thank you Shay for giving her a chance at a life.. You will be missed.. Things sometimes don't make sense, or just aren't fair.. And this is one of those times. So sorry to Shay and her family.. We all love you, and I know Misfit Michelle was waiting for you.. Run free.. See you again
